Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with Thai Dy PM and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon

As Myanmar and Thailand have the same culture, religion and race apart from being neighbours, bilateral relations between the two countries are fine. Understanding is required in all areas while mutual trust is the most essential part in bilateral relations. All sorts of difficulties can be solved through negotiations based on sincerity and openness. The fine traditions of bilateral relations maintained throughout the many decades must be handed over to the posterity, noted Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his meeting with a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand General Prawit Wongsuwon at Zeyathiri Parlour, here, at 11.30 am yesterday.

Views were cordially exchanged on closer cooperation in the multiple sectors of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force of the two armed forces, the progress in holding the TBC, RBC and HLC meetings between the two armed forces, exchange of military goodwill delegations and training affairs, promotion of cooperation in anti-terrorist campaigns and border security, effective eradication of drug production and trafficking as a common threat, cooperation with government bodies for the facilitation and correctness of border demarcation process, bilateral implementation of tree growing at border to become a model of the region, and protection of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand under the law of the host country.

Present at the call together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). General Prawit Wongsuwon was accompanied by Minister for Labour of Thailand General Sirichai Distakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence General Preecha Jan-O-Cha, Commanderin- Chief of Royal Thai Army General Teerachai Nakwanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, military attachés and officials.

After the call, the Senior General and the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photo together with those present at the call.
